Norwalk WPCA Implements CIPP Technology for Sewer Rehabilitation

Norwalk WPCA Implements CIPP Technology for Sewer Rehabilitation
January 27, 2024

The Norwalk Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) began a sanitary sewer lining project in the Rowayton area! To line the pipe, the WPCA used a technology called Cured In Place Pipe, or CIPP for short. This technology resurfaces the interior walls of existing pipes which improves the pipe’s strength and flow.

This Project is in progress to reduce infiltration of groundwater from seeping into the pipes and extend the useful life of the City’s sewer piping. These improvements allow for minimal impact on the area, saving taxpayers’ time and money compared to other methods that require digging through the road, replacing existing pipes, and rebuilding the road.
